Apollin Lu | Director

SMUSMUN 2026 will be Apollin’s final Model UN conference. Her first conference was  VMUN when she was 11 and over  the past 7 years, Apollin has attended every major conference in BC, and dabbled in countless committees. MUN has helped her develop her public speaking abilities and meet people from all over the world. Her involvement in MUN stems from a deep interest in policy and systems of power. She has consistently been competitive in debate, reaching 2nd place in the Harvard International tournament, and being the best performing team in Canadian history at the Tournament of Champions. In her spare time, Apollin can be found on a revolving door of FaceTime calls. She is so excited to make UNHCR the best experience for delegates ever.

Siddharth Shetty | Chair

A Grade 12 at SMUS, Siddharth has been doing MUN throughout his high school career, and is excited to staff at SMUSMUN again. An active participant in MUN conferences, Siddharth is motivated by a deep interest in international relations and foreign cultures. Because of MUN, Siddharth has built connections that he will keep for life, and countless memories. Although he’s not the biggest fan of writing position papers, he is excited to read the delegate's research and dive into all of the different perspectives. Outside of the committee room, you can find Siddharth playing squash, participating in the school musical, or practicing his geography. He’s very excited to be chairing UNHCR this year and wishes delegates the best in their preparations.

Eli Juteau | Assistant Director

Entering his Grade 10 year at SMUS, Eli is ecstatic to be embracing the role of Assistant Director in the UNHCR. An avid MUN participant since Grade 7, he has had his fair share of experience at conferences. From ripping up the Geneva Convention as Canada to quoting Regina George as the Byzantine Empire, MUN has been one of the highlights of his school life for the past four years. MUN has not only taught Eli how to have fun, it’s taught him how to speak, to be confident, and how international relations work. Outside of MUN, you can find Eli doomscrolling Pinterest, forgetting to hydrate, and doing whatever it is theater kids do. He’s honoured to welcome delegates to the UNHCR at SMUSMUN this year.
